Loretta "Lorie" Mares Chapman, 63 of Eunice LA entered into the kingdom of heaven Wednesday June 26, 2024 @5:56am at her residence.  Loretta was born on April 26, 1961 in Los Angeles, CA.  Loretta was a devoted christian and held unwaivering love for the Lord.  She has been restored by our lord and given eternal peace as she becomes one of his flock.  She is reunited in everlasting glory with her husband Morris Chapman, her mother Maria Irene Thomas, & one brother James "Jimmy" Cox. Lorie's memory will carry on through her four children:  Rene James Gonzalez, Raymond Mares Jr., Sophia Mares & Amanda Solis, her nine grandchildren: Sydney, London, Camille, Carson, Ana, Italy, Jordyn, Rome & Christina; one brother Zachery Thomas Jr.,  one sister Marina Cox & a host of neices, nephews, aunts, uncles & other relatives & friends.

Lorie moved to Eunice from Pacoima, CA in 1991 with her 4 children to start a new life. Throughout her years in Eunice, she served the community by working in customer service positions @ establishments such as Mathilda's Country Kitchen, Jansen's Sewing Company, Donut Queen, & Burger King. She was also a babysitter as well as a caretaker for mentally-disabled individuals for many years. Lorie enjoyed cooking & baking sweet dough pies & blessed Eunice with her assortment of Mexican Dishes, particularly her famous tamales.

Lorie adored arts and crafts, especially sewing.  She would make shirts, pants, dresses, sweaters, knitted blankets, hair ribbons, work overalls, blouses etc.  Lorie love painting, gardening, scrapbooking, listening to Christian music as well as Motown classics.  She has made many friends & will be dearly missed.  Isaiah 66:13 "as a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem".
